Mason Early Family
Hey y'all- quick update today.
Mason had an ok night last night. He had a platelet transfusion that he had a reaction to- including hives and a fever. They were able to give him some Benadryl to fight the reaction, and he was able to go back to sleep.
He received an additional platelet transfusion this morning before heading in for his lumbar puncture. The procedure went smoothly and he was back in his room pretty quickly.
Mason has been feeling achy and flu-like all day. He has been unable to eat. I spoke to the nurse to see what we can do, and unfortunately, this is a side effect of the chemo meds, and these symptoms tend to come into full effect between days 8-10 (we are on day 8) and can last up to day 18.
As he struggles with nausea, we have requested that they give him as many meds as possible through his IV, because he gets overwhelmed at the thought of swallowing any more pills. His nurses today let me know that this might become a sticking point for us as we move forward. I struggle to understand why this has to be a point in our fight- if he is going to lose the full contents of his stomach as soon as he swallows the pill, why do we have to attempt it? But that might just be mama bear coming out- I'm definitely not claiming to be a medical expert.
Please pray that this sweet boy can get some relief, some rest and that these symptoms stick around for a minimal amount of time.
We should receive results from his lumbar puncture sometime tomorrow and will share once we know more.
Thank you for your prayers, support and continued encouragement.
