72-Hour Update: $2,509.60 Raised

We’re just over 72 hours into this, and $2,509.60 has been raised to help MaryEllen keep her home.

The first 24 hours were a whirlwind. Since then, things have slowed considerably. I expected that first wave to eventually settle down, but I’ll admit it’s difficult watching the number sit still when we know how far there is left to go.

But stalled isn’t the same thing as finished.

More than $2,500 exists today that didn’t exist three days ago because people decided MaryEllen was worth helping. That matters.

Now we have to build the next wave.

On October 17 at 7 PM ET, Indie Ink Fund will host Writers for MaryEllen, a two-hour live evening of stories, poetry, conversation, art, and community. Writers and artists are already stepping forward to participate, and over the next week we’ll be introducing them and sharing more about the event.

The goal is not simply to ask the same people for money again. We need to bring MaryEllen’s story to people who haven’t heard it yet.

So today I’m asking for something very specific:
