Apologies for the long and delayed update, but there is much to share and be thankful for!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and felt incredibly thankful that we were all able to spend time together. Friends shared their cooking talents and kind hearts by providing amazing sides and desserts—mac and cheese will definitely be added to the Meador Thanksgiving tradition going forward.

Mary’s medical insurance officially kicked in on 12/1, which allowed her to transfer to Texas Neuro on 12/4. She is extremely motivated and continues to push herself in therapy every day. The move to TX Neuro gives her access to all the therapies she needs, and it’s already making a difference. She is hopefully moving into a specialized unit at TX Neuro soon, where her rehabilitation can be even more focused on her specific neurological and physical needs.
The initial assessment at TX Neuro identified she has Aphasia as a result of her traumatic brain injury. (Aphasia affects how you communicate, impacting speech, as well as the way you write and understand both spoken and written language). The prognosis is good, but it will be a long road. We are also very optimistic as her bones and skin graft are healing well, and she has been able to transfer from her wheelchair to a shower chair, toilet and even into a car to transport to an offsite Drs. appointment.
We’re excited to share a couple of special therapy moments in the pictures included with this update. One photo captures the first time Mary lifted her left leg on her own, a huge milestone in her recovery. Another shows a lighter but equally meaningful moment—Mary playing bingo with her dad, reminding us all how important joy and connection are during this journey. Also a fun pic with her 13-year-old son, Thaddyus.
All of the prayers, encouragement, and support continue to fuel Mary’s determination and push her forward. Because the at-fault driver did not have sufficient insurance coverage, the continued support through this fundraiser is helping cover medical and living expenses so Mary can fully focus on healing. This support has brought immense relief to my parents and the rest of our family. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you so much to all of you who have shared encouragement, prayed or put Mary on a prayer list, and supported us. We are beyond grateful.
— With love and thanks from our family ❤️
