4/9/24 Mackenzie Status
the Linch Family
Mackenzie is lightly sedated, but alert and responsive to us in the Pediatric ICU on a traditional ventilator. She is severely weakened after surviving chemotherapy complications and 4+ weeks in the PICU on oxygen support. We are doubling our efforts to build up her lung and physical strength, with hopes of removing the breathing tube soon. It’s a delicate process to remove a breathing tube and stay off intubation after receiving so much medical support. Thankfully, her lungs are improving slowly, but she needs to rebuild her overall strength. We are concerned but hopeful that Mackenzie can graduate soon from PICU and move into rehabilitation. She has overcome significant challenges in this chemo cycle. In tandem with her overall recovery, she resumed leukemia treatments this week, with bone marrow transplant being the eventual goal.
Special thanks to Team Mackenzie for all of your continued care and support!
