Mackenzie remains sedated in the Pediatric ICU as her lungs rehabilitate. She made good progress in her recovery and treatment this week. An initial test shows that she is in remission after the first month of treatment. This good news is typically a predictor of our ability to fight her disease. She must stay the course, recover from this PICU complication, and complete the treatment plan, but the remission improves her chances for success.

As many of you know, Sunday is Mackenzie’s 4th birthday. We wish she could be awake to celebrate her birthday with us, but we are also very grateful that she is reaching this milestone. Every month makes her stronger and more capable of overcoming this disease. We will celebrate with her when she wakes up.
