As of 9/8/26 we have an official diagnosis: pleuropulmonary blastoma (PPB). It is a rare type of lung cancer that develops in young children. Mackenzie's odds of beating this are 50/50. But our girl is strong, and she has quite a bit of fight in her.

Our Next steps:

  • 9/11/26- She will have a tracheostomy. This will allow for more long-term breathing support without the risk of infection the breathing tube has. It also means they can start bringing her out of sedation. We can't wait to hear her tell this cancer "NO!"

  • She will start more targeted chemo to try to shrink the tumor.

  • She will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future, but as unfun as that sounds, it is currently the best and safest place for her.

Some good news: Mom and Dad got to hold her! She is giving hugs and holding on to others on her own.

We hear you and know you are eager to do what you can to help. Right now, prayers and thoughts are best as we try to adjust to our new normal. When we have a better understanding of what life will be like moving forward, we will be better able to tell you how you can help.
