Good morning!
Yesterday the AP said Mackenzie is on the list for a move back up to TICU. I questioned in rounds why, if they are talking about surgery (surgery patients don't heal in TICU, they go to PICU post-op). They aren't making any moves over the weekend, but will check on surgeon's response and timing next week.
PICU is Pediatric ICU. Patients here get 1:1 nursing care.
TICU is Transitional ICU. Patients there get less 1:1, as it is geared more towards self-sufficiency and the move home.
She had a calm night. She fell asleep about 9pm and was up around 5am for the morning. She threw up yesterday afternoon and again this morning, so they paused feeds. She has had strong coughs and is getting gunk up along with her NG tube...Currently, she is giving the nurses hell and fighting the NG tube replacement. It takes one to place and two to hold her, we're on attempt #2.
On the PT front, the AP (attending physician) today wants to see her moving more and sitting up. That will help bowels move more naturally and help with strength training. It is also best to get her on a routine for prepping the move to TICU (if it happens). Sleep at night, no tv or tablet, and awake during the day.
She doesn't want to dress up currently, I am hoping to talk her into it in a little while.
