Sadie Long
I sat in church this past Sunday- and that in itself feels like a miracle. I sat outside the Sunday school room and listened to Mrs. Mac talk to the children and I couldn't stop the tears from sliding down my face. Joy. Love. Living something I wasn't entirely positive I'd ever get to do again. Being in his house- being home. Something about an empty room in God's house listening to his word being taught- I sat in church this past Sunday and let go.
This week has felt like Christmas morning every morning. That's not to say it's been without it's bumps- there have been several 3am wake ups, a few moments of heat rash, a couple of blood pressures that had me hold my breath- but- that's to be expected as we figure out Sadie's endurance and reactions. Every single day has held laughter and hugs and just- life. It feels like being together is a gift. The girls have been over the moon with each other, spending entire days playing side by side- just hearing "sister" being yelled across the house makes me smile.
Today is our first official day of homeschool. I can't help but feel that this is how God intended life- together- savoring the moments, soaking in the love and the importance of small moments. I will also admit that it's not for the faint of heart- I have to stay in prayer that we're doing this 'right' and then I laugh because I can hear him telling me 'oh daughter" and the shake of his head with laughter. I need only pause and think that a month ago we were just getting out of the hospital- only a week ago we were packing to come home- three months ago we were still waiting for a miracle- we are so incredibly blessed in this life. We start our days in prayer and I know the rest will all be alright.
The girls are finishing up their hour of free reading- we will touch some earth and hug each other over multiplication cards and seed starting.
Sadie goes back to clinic on Monday, we will see what her bloodwork shows and pick up her next heart monitor then.
Until then- plants and paint and spelling words.
