Sadie Long
There's something about the feeling of coming home- driving on your streets, your church, your favorite coffee shop, that one light that takes forever- its a feeling of belonging, of comfort-it's home.
Sadie sang the entire trip back, she counted down the hours and when we were 59 minutes away she started to vibrate in the back seat. She was so full of energy and joy- she sang the loudest those last 59 minutes. When we were 15 minutes from the house she said "Hey I think I know where we are" and then we passed our church and she was ecstatic- that feeling of being home hit her hard and she would have bounced all over the car if I let her.
We're home. We're back together with Will and Harper. I have to keep writing it because I've been walking around reminding myself. We all keep hugging each other as if we're checking to make sure that we're still here and it's real. It's real. The girls have been attached to each other. They made breakfast together this morning and have watched three movies side by side so far- as well as opened every bottle of glitter we own and created planets and paper candy shops. They have their own sister time to make up for.
There's a lot of unpacking to do, adjustment, new routines to sort out and everything that life requires- Sadie will go back in two weeks for clinic-but for right this moment we are just hugging each other tightly and thanking God that we get to.
We're home.
