Posted on Facebook and just remembered I should share here too.

On Monday, I came to Stanford for a clinic check-up and they wound up admitting me to the hospital. Turns out, I have a severe infection in my reconstructed breast so we’re trying to save my skin and tissue. I’m allergic to penicillin so they had to aspirate and now I’m waiting on a culture so they can tailor my antibiotics. I’ll be here until Saturday or Sunday. Accepting any and all visitors if you’re in the area since Brandon is stuck at home with the puppies. 🙏🏼

Friday update: My culture hasn’t showed any signs of growth so long story short, my doctors are stumped about my condition. I’m still in the hospital and while there’s been some improvement, it’s slow going. As of now, they’re figuring out next steps for my release / home healthcare because I’ll need to be on meds until my breast heals.

I also had to change rooms b/c I was originally paired with a 98 year old woman who kept shrieking for help in the middle of the night. Since she was too disoriented to use the call button, I kept having to intervene, which made things all the more chaotic and stressful.

It’s been a loooong, emotional week for obvious reasons (and more) but I’m so, so grateful for all the support from near and far. 🫶🏼
