Lindsay Joy Elkins Taylor
Hi everyone. The last couple months have obviously been an emotional roller coaster but I’m excited to share that my genetic testing was negative and my PET scan confirmed the cancer hasn’t spread beyond my lymph node(s)! Plus, I was able to secure a surgeon and oncologist from Stanford Breast Center so I’m receiving care from some of the best doctors possible.
I finally had my first chemo infusion 10 days ago and while it was a brutal week of recovery, I’m starting to feel more like myself again. Most days, I’ve been able to get out for a walk and was even able to do a small workout today too.
The rest of my treatments are bi-weekly so if all goes well, I should finish chemo in April, with surgery to follow in May and radiation in June and July. I’ve also added a naturopathic oncologist to my care team for help along the way and am doing cold capping to (hopefully) minimize my hair loss.
For those who may not know, Brandon lost his longtime job shortly before I was diagnosed but thankfully we still have a couple years left of COBRA insurance coverage left before that is a concern.
Thanks to your generous donations though, we’ve been able to pay the never-ending medical bills with much less worry. It’s unreal how quickly everything adds up so we can’t thank you enough for your continued prayers and support so we can just focus on me being cancer-free in 2023!
Even though I’m still very slow to reply, I still appreciate every single call, text, card, gift, etc. Thank you for surrounding me with so much love during this scary time.
Big hugs,
Lindsay Joy
