Just a quick update to let you know the plan for Lincoln. Due to the Holiday, communication was slow and broken up, but we finally heard from the Neurosurgeon and the hospital. The doctors believe it is too risky to wait till after Christmas to remove the tumor. The bigger it gets the more difficult to remove.
So, Lincoln will be admitted tomorrow to Scottish Rite, will have a smaller surgery to remove his VP shunt and remain inpatient until Friday. This is to let his ventricles fill to hopefully help in getting the tumor out as it's in the 3rd ventricle. Friday is the big surgery. It will take about 5-6 hours; he will then go to the PICU over the weekend and then to a medical bed.
We trust the Neurosurgeon and our team of doctors, but this is the most scared we have been other than in the beginning of all this. We are trying to stay positive and not think too much about what could go wrong, but I don't think we will feel ok until he comes out of the OR. I wish this was not our best option, but that's where we are at. Please continue sending all your positive thoughts and prayers.
