We have had great news this week! Lincoln had an MRI on Monday, his results showed zero growth of the residual tumor! This was such a relief, expecially since Lincoln had been having some headaches leading up to the test. Wednesday he had a lumbar puncture and those results were good as well. All this means, not only does he not need to have surgery, but he qualifies for the reduced radiation. This is really huge! So Lincoln will still undergo 30 rounds of radiation, about 6 weeks, everyday, Mon-Fri. The difference is that he only has to have his ventricles and spine radiated instead of his whole brain. There are a lot more short and long term effects when getting radiation to the whole brain. So this really is a blessing.
Today we went to the Proton Center to get ready for radiation, Lincoln had to have a CT, they molded a pad to his legs, another one to the back of his head, and then they had to make a mask that goes over his face and shoulders and attatches to the bed. It looked rather uncomfortable and there were lots of tears, but Lincoln did amazing. He held very still and did not need to be sedated. He is such an incredible kid. We will officially start radiation on April 21st.
This afternoon, we will head to Camp Sunshine for their Family Camp. We are all very excited to get to do something fun. Then we will be on Spring Break! Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers, you are all amazing. We'll keep you posted.
