Well, it feels like the last update was a long time ago, but I guess it really wasn't. We are still in the hospital. Lincoln has been having PT/OT and speech daily, speech is working with Lincoln on his memory, he's had some problems with short term memory since the surgery. He's also working with psychiatry which seems so be helping his mood. Still having ups and downs, but definitely understandable.
Today has been one of the best days we have had so far! Over the weekend they continued to raise his EVD and this morning they clamped it. So, all day, his brain has been draining the CSF on its own! We are watching him for any symptoms of increased pressure but so far so good. Today he walked all the way to the Kids Zone, which is pretty far from our room! He had the assistance of a walker, but he did a great job! We've been out of the bed most of the day and spirits have been up!
Not sure how long they like to leave him clamped before making the decision to take out the EVD, but that is the next step. It was very encouraging today, talking with PT/OT, they think he will not need to stay on the rehab floor but could go home and do it outpatient! They were discussing things we will need to go home with, like a wheelchair, walker, and shower chair. But any discussion about going home is exciting since every other conversation has been "we just have to wait and see."
Hopefully, tomorrow we will have a better idea of when we can bust out of here! In the meantime, it has been wonderful getting the siblings up to see him and some of his friends. One of our dear friends even snuck the puppy in to see Lincoln! He has loved all the letters and art he's gotten. We are so blessed to have so much love and support surrounding us. Thank you.

His physical self has been through so much and has been healing but not fast enough for all that other self! Good luck remembering this for tomorrow when the leaps might be more of a few steps. IT'S HAPPENING. It's never an even pace.
And thank you for the photos and the open way you write. I appreciate this so much and think of y'all so much. LOVE
