Lew is pretty alert today, relatively speaking. He's saying a few things here and there. I even got a laugh out of him when I called him a "rock star", and he put in a request to hear some jazz- his expressed preferences were Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald. I'll cue that up for him after his next trip for a scan.

Medical news:

Got back a positive staph culture (prior culture was negative), so staph is clearly ongoing
Chest congestion persists
Continues on high flow oxygen
Heading out for CT shortly to rule out PE (clot in lung)
Back and other pain being managed with new med today- keeping him as comfortable as possible without oversedating
Moving his left legs more. Still no left arm movement at all.

Again, our deepest gratitude for all the love coming our way. We feel it, and we are reading your many messages to him with response. He is definitely aware . Isabel and Karl have flown in. Aunt Judy has visited. Other family may be coming shortly to see him. ICU is a hard place to hang out all day and night, but we're all supporting each other and taking turns sleeping here. The medical and nursing staff have been just extraordinary- so kind and caring and smart, making thoughtful decisions about his care.

Dear Allie, Our thoughts and prayers are with you all, and especially your Mum and Dad. They are such dear people to us, richly blessing our lives over so many years. Please tell Lewis, he’d better get better soon because we’re hoping to see them next year and listen to some Nina and Ella! Please send many hugs and all our love to them both. And to you all to who wait with them at the hospital. Hopefully Gavin will be able to speak with Lewis as he is able… Gavin & Amanda xo
