First, we just want to pause for a moment and say a HUGE thank you.
  • Thank you for praying! This moment-by-moment journey is being held up knowing we are surrounded by prayer.
  • Thank you for donating to our fundraiser! This is allowing us to be together and having a bit of peace of mind. Drake is able to take this week off and having Daddy here is helping Leah’s heart and safety.
  • If you’ve supported Leah’s journey through her Amazon rehab list, THANK YOU! The OT is making recommendations that help her use her hands. Pulling, pushing, holding things, making flat handprints on any surface available, sensory surfaces for her to touch, etc. Keeping her using her hands, even through the pain, is of paramount importance.
  • Thank you for food, Starbucks, and DoorDash gift cards! It’s helping sustain us in such tangible ways.
  • Thank you for texts and post comments! We read them all, and knowing people are thinking of us is so encouraging!
  • For anything we can’t think of…THANK YOU! We are still operating on limited brain function, and we know we are forgetting something.

And now for the update:
Leah had a really good night! She only had one meltdown when the nurse tried to take vitals. Leah only lets Mommy and Daddy put on the blood pressure cuff, pulse ox monitors, and take her temperature. If the staff tries, she gets super angry, and the nurse last night tried and got Leah’s wrath, and Daddy got a rude awakening with a brace slap to the face. Mommy, Daddy and Josiah (only up one time🎉) all got good sleep last night.

Leah has also had a good morning. She was coloring, painting with do-a-dots, loving bubbles  and most importantly smiling and being silly.

Leah is back from dressing change. She got her first tub dressing change, so she is nice and clean, and hopefully the smoke smell is finally washed away. The OT wanted her braces on after dressing change, and that really set our sweet girl off. She really, really, really hates them. They stretch all those tendons and tender skin which is no fun. She is currently sleeping off all those big feelings.

8:30 PM UPDATE:  As in prior days, the morning brings the best for Leah, but as the day progresses, her smiles fade as her pain overtakes her.  But, we are thankful for the moments we get.

Ways to pray:

  • Eating. Girl does not want to eat.
  • Decreased pain, especially for her right arm
  • Continued increase in playful therapeutic play.
