Last night's  CareBridge update is below.   I will add that we also saw Leah briefly last night when I delivered items Joy and Drake requested.  The doctors needed a blood draw for today's surgery and were having difficulty- where do you draw blood on the tiny body of a two-year-old covered with burns… we sat in the hall listening to our precious girl screaming and begging to stop and let her go.. it took 4 medical care professionals (mommy, daddy and KoKo), to get one small vial of blood.   🥲

This nana and papa's hearts are broken

Update from CareBridge;
 9/10 PM update:
Today has been a rough day for our sweet Leah. She’s been pretty uncomfortable and moody. That kind of feels silly and like a no-kidding statement. But we had no smiles and lots of tears today.

Things of concern for today:
• Leah’s liver levels were high, so they are monitoring closely, and we had to back off the Tylenol to see if this will help her levels normalize.
• Leah’s blood pressure has also been high today. They aren’t sure what's causing it. Not too concerned, but also monitoring.
• Saddest news. Leah also tested positive for the common cold. This means anyone in her room has to gown up and wear a mask. She is also no longer allowed out of her room for walks or playroom visits. These were really helping all of us stay sane so we are really struggling with this change.
Surgery is scheduled for 3 pm tomorrow. They will be cleaning and beginning the grafting process. They don’t know for sure what procedures will be done until they get into the OR, but they do know they will be starting with cadaver skin for the worst burn areas. The surgery is scheduled to be 3-4 hours in length.

Ways to pray:
• Liver and blood pressure will normalize.
• We had the most awesome and amazing nurse since we’ve been at Riley, and she is off the next few days, so pray our next-day nurse is just as amazing as she has been. We have no idea how the nurses on the burn unit do this job. And they’ve been so good. Superheroes in scrubs!
• Today was a hard, hard day, especially for Joy and Drake. So many tears. So much hard.
