Happy 4th of July!
Thank you so much for your continued prayers for Kriste and our family. We truly believe your prayers and intercession are making a difference. We have seen so much progress and God's favor as He continues to provide exactly what is needed for Kriste to move forward with treatment.
Here is an update from this past week:
After meeting with the oncologist last week, Kriste was scheduled for a PET scan. Before that could happen, however, we needed to secure health insurance. Up to this point, everything at Johns Hopkins had been paid out of pocket, and we knew that continuing treatment without insurance would be extremely challenging.
Timing was incredibly important. We were hoping to have insurance in place before the PET scan so those expenses would apply toward the deductible, and we also needed a plan that would cover the specific doctors and treatment team at Johns Hopkins. What seemed impossible became possible. Through God's provision, a lot of hard work, and many answered prayers, her insurance became effective on July 1, and Kriste was able to have her PET scan on July 2.
We are praising God for this incredible answer to prayer!
In the meantime, we have been working to bring Ryan, Aurora, and Valor to Baltimore to be with Kriste for the rest of the month as she begins treatment. Even with insurance, the financial burden of cancer treatment is significant. We are trying to be wise and strategic with every decision so the family can navigate this season without creating even greater financial hardship.
Once again, God has been making a way. It looks like the family will be able to spend this precious time together while Kriste begins her treatment journey. The future is still unfolding, and many details remain unknown, but we are learning to trust the One who already knows the future.
One thing we have learned quickly is that cancer is incredibly disruptive. It requires constant adjustments, difficult decisions, and sacrifices that no family ever anticipates. But this is a fight for life, and we are trusting God to sustain the Johnson family every step of the way.
Thank you for continuing to pray, encourage, and support the Johnson family. If you feel led to help financially, your gifts will directly ease the burden of travel expenses, rental cars, and flights so Ryan, Aurora, and Valor can be with Kriste throughout her treatment. We anticipate several trips to Baltimore over the coming months, and we know that having her family close will be one of the greatest sources of strength and encouragement as she fights this battle.’
Prayer Requests
As we wait for the next steps, we would be so grateful if you would continue praying specifically for these needs:
Pray for the PET scan results. Please pray that the scan would clearly reveal exactly what the doctors need to see so they can make the best, most informed decisions regarding Kriste's treatment plan. We are praying for wisdom, clarity, and the best possible outcome.
Pray for family relationships. Cancer impacts the entire family. Please pray for an extra measure of grace, patience, unity, and love as we all come together to support Kriste. We want this season to draw us closer to one another and to the Lord.
Pray for Kriste's immune system. As treatment begins, please pray that God would strengthen her body, protect her from illness and infection, and give her endurance for everything that lies ahead.
Pray for Ryan, Aurora, and Valor. Please pray for safe travels as they make their way to Baltimore, for peace as they adjust to this new season, and for meaningful time together as a family while Kriste begins treatment.
Thank you for every prayer, every gift, every message of encouragement, and every act of kindness. We are reminded daily that we are not walking this road alone. We are deeply grateful for the way you have surrounded the Johnson family with the love of Christ. Please continue praying that God would provide, strengthen, heal, and receive all the glory through this journey.
