It has been just about a month that I have known about my diagnosis. For the most part, I’ve been very optimistic and ready to fight. To be honest, in the last 48 hours, as the mastectomy nears, have been very challenging. Even though I know this is a very safe procedure, there is always that very small chance of something going wrong. I’ve spent my time holding Jason close and giving him extra kisses. I have written tearful letters to Dani and Jason and just hope that they never need to read them. I know deep down that I’ll be back home before I know it, but just in case something doesn’t go as planned, please rally around Dani and support him in any way you can. Dani, Jason, Eitan, and Julie are my heart 💜.
We had the best time in Disney World and made lifelong memories together. Yes, “Lightning Lane” is totally worth it and mandatory whenever you book! Haha!! My newest favorite ride was Micky & Minnie’s Runaway Railroad!! It was a big difference traveling without 40 sixteen year olds, but I loved every minute of experiencing Disney through my children’s eyes!
To everyone that has reached out with emails, texts, babysitting offers, meals, and gift cards; please know how loved and supported I feel. I am so incredibly blessed to have such a huge community backing me right now. We are so appreciative and grateful. It’s been a very tough week with more family illness news and a very close family friends passing, but the love and support has kept me smiling and hopeful.
I hope to have Dani or Elizabeth update this blog for everyone once I’m out of surgery. I plan to be back to writing my own updates before you know it!
With Love & Gratitude,
Shira
