It's been a while since my last update, so I wanted to write a quick post to fill you in on my progress and next steps. It's been 3 months since my final chemo treatment. Overall, Ive been feeling really good, I've been back at work, and enjoying lots of special time with my family. My hair has been growing pretty quickly, and I have been rocking all my headbands! Chemo side effects still linger a little, and it's hard from time to time since I appear "normal" on the outside, but am still struggling now and then.
In just about ten days, I will begin the final leg of my journey. I will be having a piggy-back surgery at GW Hospital. Part 1 will be breast reconstruction and part 2 will be a salpingo-oophorectomy where they remove my ovaries and fallopian tubes. Luckily, I will get 2 nights of Hanukkah in with my little dude before surgery on the 16th. The doctors say that I will need about 6 weeks for full recovery, but I should start feeling much better about 2 weeks post surgery. This will be my 3rd and 4th surgeries in just 8 months. I am very much looking forward to New Year's Eve and putting 2025 behind me as I leap into 2026 happy, healthy, and cancer free!
Many people have asked how they can continue to help us. I think the biggest thing is meals and/or gift cards to DoorDash, GrubHub, and Uber Eats. This makes one less thing we need to worry about! Dani and I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support, donations, and gift-cards since this journey began back in March. Our village is amazing and we are so grateful!!
Dani or I will be sure to update this blog once I am out of surgery and home recovering. Thank you for keeping me in your thoughts and prayers. Happy Hanukkah, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all.
