Happy Holiday season; we hope everyone is enjoying. 🎄

The last week has been eventful, and not in the way we hoped. 
Emmy has been struggling with RSV, Rhinovirus, a yucky cough, low blood counts(caused by viruses) and mucositis (caused by low blood counts)  since earlier this week. On Tuesday we were in the clinic for 8 hours to get labs and a blood transfusion after I had a feeling something was off when she woke up drenched in sweat that night. We were sent home after the infusion to hopefully enjoy Christmas. Christmas was not the magical time that I had hoped for, but it was better than last year.

 Ellie’s Holiday Hero’s sponsor the girls this Christmas and we are so thankful for those that cleared their wish list! It takes a HUGE mental and financial weight off us as we continue navigating this rollercoaster of a journey.  

We made it through Christmas but the next day Emmy barely got off the couch and her mouth sores and cough were worsening. I was just waiting for the fever to come. It never did, but when Emmy woke up yesterday crying on the floor, had blood on her blanket, pale and hot, we made the decision she needed to be checked out again. We ended up in the ER all day. They ran the usual blood tests, viral swabs, and chest xray. The chest xray yesterday showed changes from the one on Tuesday and they suspect a bacterial pneumonia. They gave her a bolus of fluid, which I think really helped, and sent us home with an antibiotic and on a chemo hold. 

I am thankful we didn’t get admitted, but asking for continued thoughts and prayers that her body can fight off the viruses and pneumonia, we can have a peaceful start to the new year, and we get back on track with treatment soon ❤️

Outside of this hurdle we’re currently crossing, life has been pretty good to us. 
Both the girls are enjoying school, Emmy’s cheer squad is state champions for their division, both the girls are doing dance, and we recently went on Emmy’s Make-a-wish trip to Disney.
