Alright, we made it through the shots! Emmy had to get a total of 8 shots in her legs over the last 2 weeks due to her allergic reaction to one of the chemo medications.
We are SO glad that’s over! As usual, she was a champ.
Emmy has been feeling very crummy lately. Her pale skin, dark circles under her eyes, lack of energy and very few smiles just kills me.
She has little interest in playing and hasn’t been to school since last week, when she was able to go for 1 day.
Some of her blood counts were low this week and she’s currently at a high risk for infection. We are monitoring for fevers and sanitizing like crazy! Unfortunately, the doctors predict her numbers will be even lower on Monday.
Good news, Emmy was feeling well enough to get outside today and even got to see her cousins, and some bunnies!
We know the next 40 days are going to continue to be rough, but even an hour of seeing her have fun helps our family SO much!
During this phase, she is on and off steroids(which make her hungry). I am happy to report even while on these steroids, she is eating less McDonalds! Instead, we have to eat portillos once a day 🫣. Her other requests include tacos and Starbucks!
I’m also very proud to share the Emmy and Brooklyn donated toys, in honor of a cancer survivor in our community, to the children’s oncology office at Advocate Lutheran General.
After each procedure/shot the kids get to pick a toy from the treasure chest, we were happy to be able to help fill the treasure chest earlier this month. We used a small portion of the money donated to us through a community event to pay it forward and donate these toys!
We are praying that the rest of this cycles goes smoothly and we get our dancing queen back very soon❤️
