Kinsley McLamore
Kinsley officially caught the first fish of the season!
She also enjoyed the first boat ride, turtle catching, water gun fight, and trip to the Minocqua urgent care. Cooper had her beat with making his first trip last year. Thankfully, her finger wasn’t broken and she has been using it in near full force.
Despite an amazing weekend, we knew something was up as we trekked back to Illinois. She started to become more tired and pale. Fast forward to midnight with a 103 fever and a trip to Lurie Children’s Hospital. After 5 hours in the emergency department and no numbing cream on her port, she made her return to the 17th floor.
Neutropenia hit her hard, as her ANC was 0 and other labs were quite low. She received IV antibiotics and a blood transfusion during her stay. Thankfully, her blood cultures did not show an infection and she is now back home!
She’ll add a new medication to her list and get labs drawn again on Friday to determine next steps with dosing her other pills. On a side note, she is now a champ at swallowing pills and will gladly teach anyone her special method (apple sauce on a spoon)!
Wish us luck as Cooper came down with a fever today and all Kinsley wants to do is play with him!
Prayers and positive vibes
