Hi Everyone,

Kevin and I really appreciate all of your support, thoughts and kind words you've shared since we've started this journey, 5 years ago.

Recently Kevin has been in and out of the hospital, 3 visits in June with 2 admittances. This last admittance has kept Kevin in there since June 29th, so 10 days so far and there doesn't necessarily seem to be an end in sight for this stay. Kevin is working as hard as he can to get well so we can come home. I know the kids and animals miss him terribly (especially the animals since they aren't allowed in the hospital... maybe I can sneak one in...).

Kevin's recent admittance is due to c diff which caused sepsis which, as many of your know, is serious business. His body is already compromised, so this just makes things extra scary for a while (I hope the maddness will stop soon).

In June Kevin's legs finally said "peace out" and will no longer support him. We found this out the hard way, transferring from his wheelchair to recliner and he fell (no animals were harmed). His progression seems to only have gone down from there. This past week, while he has been in the hospital, his arms have gotten significantly weaker to where he has difficulty feeding and watering himself, so we've stepped in to make sure the patient eats all his Jello.

Kevin is taking things remarkably well for someone in his position. he still cracks jokes and heckles the family when they come to visit. He also sleeps a great deal of the time now. I'm hopeful once this infection goes away, he will be more alert and responsive. Till then, I sit in the (amazingly) comfortable couch in his room, watching and waiting.

Thank you for following along with our journey. I know it has been not an easy road, but we appreciate all of you for coming along for the ride.Ā

Kristy

Linda and I know Kevin and the entire family (including the animals) will continue the fight. All of you are in our thoughts and prayers. Wish we could do more. I’m waiting for my t-shirt to arrive. We hope he gets home soon. S&L
