Feeding tube replacement

Ken went to the OR to have his feeding tube replaced with one that will bypass his stomach and go further into his digestive tract. The amount of formula his stomach can tolerate is not enough to sustain him and he is losing weight. Food by mouth or liquids are a little harder to swallow and when he does he coughs and they are afraid he will aspirate into his lungs. He will have a swallow study tomorrow after he has rested and recovered from the feeding tube procedure. Once back from the OR they will gradually increase his formula until he can tolerate the goal rate which may take 24 to 48 hours because adding to much to soon could shock his  system. I will let you know when he is back and how he is doing.
