Finally making my first post here after being at a complete loss for words and being filled with gratitude. I cannot thank everyone enough for their generosity and kind words whether it’s here on this page, Facebook or privately. It takes a village, so thank you all for being part of mine!!
Jenna’s been kind enough to keep you all informed, but I figured I would share some more insight as to what treatment has looked like and what’s coming up.
Let’s first go back to July 7th when I felt a lump… it was a whirlwind of events and after a mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy, I got my official diagnosis on July 31st. After that came two MORE biopsies followed by mammograms to make sure markers were placed appropriately. One month from my diagnosis, August 31st, I officially started chemo.
Chemo works in cycles so when the doctors told me I needed to start with 4 cycles I thought “Wow! 4 treatments, that’s great!” But… I was wrong. One cycle was actually three weeks long with treatment every. single. week. Cycle 1 Week 1 meant two chemos followed by immunotherapy, then weeks 2 and 3 only meant one chemo. We are currently already in Cycle 3 of the first 4 with what they call the Red Devil on deck for the final 4 treatments. I have spent 8 weeks with my infusion nurse and oncology team with only 8 more chemo Mondays to go!

I’ve learned a lot about myself so far and there’s a long way to go, but I truly am so blessed to have all of your support and one of the best care teams in the country at Dana Farber. We have a long road ahead as we’ve mentioned… 8 more chemo treatments, surgery and radiation. So for now I’ll smile it’s today and just keep swimming! Each day is a step toward being healthy again! 🌻🐠🤍
