Hi family and friends - we wanted to share an update as we navigate all of the information coming at us.
On August 2nd my mom asked to be brought to the ER after experiencing extreme leg pain and some shoulder pain for a few weeks.
Upon arrival at the ER they ran some tests and found a tumor in her lower femur and upper humerus. We were transferred to Advent Shawnee Mission where more tests have been ran throughout the past few days.
After multiple MRI’s, CT’s, bone scans, and a biopsy, doctors were able to confirm that there are multiple cancerous tumors in her sternum, shoulder, femur, and liver as well as a pulmonary embolism.
She will be transferred to Truman Medical Center for surgery on her femur and shoulder this week.
Following surgery she will work on Physical Therapy to regain strength so she is able to go home and begin treatment.
As we still wait on more biopsy results to confirm a complete diagnosis and treatment plan we are leaning on each other for support and we are so thankful for everyone who has showed how much they care. We truly have an amazing support system during this time and are thankful for everyone!
