We had Joy‘s post-op visit today with her surgeon and from a surgical standpoint, everything looks great! Her surgeon was really pleased with how everything looks and is healing. However, Joy has actually lost weight since the last time she was seen, which is deeply concerning, as she is now in just the 15th percentile for weight. We have known for a few months now that ever since she became mobile, her regular fortified breastmilk was no longer sufficient for her calorie needs. However, she is still not eating any solid foods. We have been hoping that once her palate was repaired that she would be more open to trying foods, but it seems that it truly is just a sensory processing issue which makes things harder to overcome. We are hoping that with a large increase in exposure to foods – designated food playtime - several times a day, that she will start to be okay with consuming foods. But that requires a lot of time and intentionality, which is hard to find in my already jam-packed full days of other therapies I’m needing to do with her on top of meeting the needs of a rambunctious Isaac, but the alarm bells are going off now. I was excited at the prospect of getting good news today, but I left the appointment feeling just really discouraged.

Thank you all for the continued prayers for Joy. We sure do need them!
