Joy Brown and Family
Joy had her pre-op appointment yesterday and everything is good to go for surgery tomorrow! Her surgery will start at noon with a 10:30 AM check-in time, which is a lot more manageable than previous surgeries where we had to be at the hospital at 5 AM. But that means the fast pre-surgery will be harder on Joy :( We are currently packing our bags to head to the hotel this evening so that we don’t have to face traffic in the morning.
I got a call last week from Children’s to let me know that Joy’s eye surgeon had an emergency surgery case pop up for this Friday which meant she could no longer do Joy’s procedure. On the one hand, that will be better for the recovery experience for Joy the next few weeks, but it’s also disappointing because that means we’ll have to do that procedure on its own in the future, meaning one more time under anesthesia- exactly what we were trying to avoid with having all the procedures done together at once. But the eye surgery portion takes only 30 minutes and is a day surgery so whenever we decide to do it, we’ll be able to just show up, get it done, and then go home.
I will update again here tomorrow morning once she goes back to the operating room. Thank you all for the prayers for Joy and her surgical team!!
