Rehab Update!

Joshua has been doing well in rehab. At first there were major issues with his pain in his lower back as well as nausea. Thankfully, his doctor has been taking this very seriously and within a couple of days the nausea was under control and the pain a little bit more manageable.

Now that his nausea is more under control, he can actually EAT and start to regain his strength back. Since the shooting, Joshua has lost 25 pounds in only 3 weeks, which is crazy.

While in rehab, he is working on transferring from a bed to a wheelchair and they recently had him get into a more "sporty" type wheelchair which is also lighter. He really liked that one better!

The children and I got to have a long visit with him on Sunday. I will admit, the hardest part of this ordeal is the separation of our family. Before this, we were always together. This is the longest time Joshua has ever been away from us and his absence is greatly felt.

As far as his spinal injury goes, we are looking into getting second opinions. Please pray for the Lord to lead us in the right direction!

We thank you, as always, for your prayers and support during this time! It is really sinking in that this is going to be a long journey for us. But thankfully we serve a God who is able to sustain us each day and He gives us the grace we need to get through each day!

We know Josh couldn't have asked for a better wife. You will have him fully "nutrified" in no time and the doctors will be amazed at the speed of his healing. Hugs to your family,

Thank you Felicia for this update. I know I can't be the only one wanting to keep up with his progress and yours. I thought you may be staying with him 24-7 but sounds like that may not be the case. Hope all is well with your children. I am sure it is agonizing for them to have their daddy gone and hurt. God will take care of you. As he has already. Just 1 day at a time. I know that sucks but not much we can do to change that. I talk to God several times a day about you folks and I know in his time all will be well.

What a great update and so glad to hear pain and nausea is being controlled. Those make for a miserable recovery. Hope Josh is getting some high protein drink. When I was sick last year, the doctor had Jon bring me Fairlife drinks (Amazon) that were 42 grams of protein. Expensive but very helpful as I had a lot of healing to do (Josh has more!). Jon bought me a strawberry flavored drink and I drank one a day.
We keep Josh and your family uppermost in our prayers.
Joshua 1:9:
"Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."

Always praying for all parts of this part of your life. I know there are many issues you all are facing now in addition to everyday life. But I am SO grateful the Lord spare Joshua. I know that you know the Lord sends us down paths that we don't understand...and maybe never will. But by His grace, you will get through. If I lived closer, I would sure help!

My chain of prayer warriors are very serious when it comes to praying over my requests about Josh and your family. I have been asked, “Any update on Josh?” They are believing with you to hear he is walking again! There is nothing impossible with God! Thanks for your updates.

Curious of his dietary guidelines. I've been in a position before where eating was difficult so I am sympathetic. We can make bone broth from high grade local cattle. Just curious if he can process mushy veggies or soft braised meat yet. Had it in mind to make some fresh/frozen trays like Lasagne for the family with some fresh assembled raw vegan pizza, and perhaps broth and stew for the Sir.
