Our big (lol relatively speaking…we’re sitting in the 9% percentile 😅) 10 month old wanted to share what he’s up to next!

In just a few weeks we’ll be taking Jonah to a PT intensive for 2 weeks to help really train his body how to do what it’s supposed to do! This is another DMI therapist (like his weekly therapist) and he will have 2 sessions each day, Monday-Friday. This sounds crazy but we’re doing this for a couple of reasons:

1. When doing this after stem cells, you’re giving the new cells and brain regeneration something to do

2. Doing so many sessions in such a short amount of time helps train the brain and use neuroplasticity to move how his body is supposed to. Some people have actually said they saw more improvement quicker with intensives than the weekly therapy model so we’re excited to see if that holds true for us

My main goal for this 2 week session is for Jonah to be able to hold his head up and sit on his own. He’s showing signs that he wants to crawl and stand so badly too, so if we could gain some momentum toward that, that would be amazing! We’ll get a home plan to continue building on the skills learned in the intensive and our weekly therapist will be able to help with the exercises here too.

Another amazing update: Jonah had an ophthalmology appointment this past week to check his eyesight. This is something that we have been monitoring since he sustained a large amount of trauma to his occipital lobe, which the doctors in the NICU predicted that he would not be able to see. However, the ophthalmologist was excited about Jonah’s vision and says that he’s happy that he’s beating the odds!

God is so good and we thank Him daily for continuing to work on our little boy’s brain! 🙌🏼
