Our miracle baby turned ✨ONE✨ yesterday!!! 🥹

This day is so emotional on so many levels.

First, the fact that Jonah is not only alive, but THRIVING is a miracle all on its own. Doctors quite literally told us to make preparations to end care (medical term for pulling his breathing tube and let Jonah go back to heaven) less than a week of Jonah’s birth and that he wouldn’t be able to see, breathe, or do much on his own. Well, not only can he SEE, HEAR, and BREATHE without support, he’s making improvements every single day.

✔️ Jonah’s head and trunk control is improving daily

✔️ Jonah has taken up to 20mL of purée by mouth! He LOVES food. Once we can find a seat he’s comfortable in that positions him properly, I know he’ll make leaps and bounds in the eating department

✔️ Jonah is reaching for toys and working on holding things with both hands and bringing them to his mouth. He’s getting better about rolling and propped sitting too and trying to stand!

✔️ He LOVES his bestie McKenzie (his nurse) and will do everything in his power to get her to just cuddle with him and not make him do work

✔️ Jonah’s awareness and cognition have only improved since starting HBOT and stem cells

✔️ Jonah’s early intervention team told us that they think he’s the most improved patient in the program for the year! 🙌🏼 He’s been working SO DANG HARD everyday, so hearing this and that they see such drastic improvements in him is so validating for all the stress and work we’ve done. We have a ways to go, but I know God is going to get him there!

Second, birth trauma sucks. I don’t even have it in me to rehash how I feel about what happened a year ago, but it replays in my mind almost daily and idk when it’ll stop. So that’s all I’ll say. It freaking sucks.

Thank you to everyone that’s been in our corner in every which way. This has been the hardest, most traumatic year, but also one where God showed us that His miracles are endless and more than we could imagine. I truly hope that Jonah’s story inspires people to keep the faith in Jesus and bear witness to what only He can do and explore alternative treatments that are being made possible everyday (I’ll talk about anything that has helped Jonah - feel free to reach out or connect me with someone that needs help!)

If you feel so inclined, we always appreciate you sharing our SupportNow link to continue spreading the word on Jonah and what we’re raising money for to continue helping him
