Hey everyone,
It’s been 30 days since Jess started her treatment on September 1st and I thought I’d provide an update. First, thank you all so much for continuing to check in, sending messages, calling, and keeping Jess in your thoughts and/or prayers. We are so very grateful for all of you.
Jess recently completed her second infusion of chemotherapy last Tuesday on 9/22/2026. Everyone at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston has been absolutely wonderful; from the people checking us in when we get there, meeting with her medical team, and even the parking attendants checking us out. Everyone seems to care, so much. I have no doubt in my mind that Jess is in the right place. Jess will continue to receive infusions in Boston every 3 weeks, with her next appointment being on October 13. Our hope is that come next year some of her treatment will be able to be done with the local Oncologist here in Saranac Lake.
As far as side effects, Jess is experiencing the usual fatigue, nausea, and loss of appetite that comes with chemotherapy but she is showing incredible strength every single day. She is slowly gaining her mobility back while her bones begin to heal. Obviously some days are harder than others, but we are taking things one day at a time and always focusing on the positive.
Jess is really enjoying opening all the mail she is receiving from friends and family! I personally find joy in watching her smile as she opens all of the letters and care packages that you all have sent her. It is always a bright spot in our day. We have so many people to thank, so it has been hard to reach back out to everyone, so please be patient with us. We are forever grateful.
