SURPRISE!! Jeremiah has just completed his first ever intensive therapy session (on Friday)! It was a 3 week intensive therapy program from 8am-11am m-f which is ALOT of therapy compared to his traditional therapy which takes place 3 hours total a week. This kid was doing 3 hours of therapy a DAY! We could not be more proud of Jeremiah. He truly did so so well and we are just thrilled with the progress that he’s made! Every single one of his therapists were amazed at how well he was doing and how much progress he’s making! In his therapy sessions they focused on a lot of things, but here are some things that I have noticed that he can do now that he could not do before:

  1. After the first week of intensive therapy, he was able to side sit!! (while holding onto something with his arm) I was so emotional watching him because he was really doing it, he was sitting on his own! He was also able to sit independently for about 10 seconds! (After the first week, and over 1 minute after the third!!) Before, he would almost instantly fall on his face or fall back/to the side. Now he’s able to actually sit sit for short periods of time!
  2. After the second week, he was able to KNEAL to play for about 30+ seconds, then he randomly started STANDING for about 10 seconds at a time!!!! I could not believe my eyes when I saw him! January 1st he was not bearing any weight through his legs. However by January 18th he was standing!! He was leaning on a toy/bench for assistance but standing is standing!!!! - after the 3rd week he was standing while playing for over a minute and 30 seconds!!!!!
  3. After the second week, we noticed His mouth and lip closure had been improving so much! He’s been eating more items that require chewing like cheese sticks and apples. He used to also have a lot of spillage on the sides of his mouth with pouches, but now he is able to almost eat the whole pouch by himself, cleanly!!
  4. We have also noticed that he has generally been speaking (babbling) more, which has been so encouraging, hearing his sweet little voice instead of a general cry! He has strong vocalizations when he has a want showing he can communicate vocally! The SLP said he was actually not too far behind when it came to language!
  5. He is showing signs of mimicking and communicating in ways we hadn’t seen before! For example, (a really sweet one), Jeremiah has always been very orally motivated when it came to toys or things in general. You’ll see him chewing the restaurant tables, hotel remotes, and just about anything that he’s curious about. He had a toy coin that he was chewing on when the PT was holding him, she handed him off to me, he then takes the coin that he was chewing and tries to put it in my mouth so that I could chew it too. 🥹 he has been trying to copy our facial expressions and the sounds we make which has been so precious.
  6. We have noticed he is able to tolerate therapy for much longer than before given that he was going so frequently with the intensives! A lot of the actual exercises were pretty similar to what we have been working on in his traditional therapy. However, one of the main things that we had noticed was his endurance to keep wanting to do the exercises and engage in the guided play. In fact, most mornings he was waking up, rolling around in his crib, and babbling before us, he was just so ready and excited to go to therapy! 😭

When we finished the intensive, they made us a PowerPoint of all the things he can do now and all of his goals that they had for him. They also gave him a cute little T-shirt and a book which felt like a mini graduation present for him. 🥹 although for us (parents) it was tiring and took a lot out of us, we believe that it was worth every minute of therapy for him. We were in hotels and airbnbs for 3 weeks. Out of rhythm, going back and forth while also trying to enjoy the city and scenery of Fort Worth. Overall, we hope to do it again soon - hopefully in the afternoon this time. 😂 He has another intensive scheduled at a place closer to our home in May. Our goal is to get him as much therapy as possible in 2026.

Lastly, we wanted to say thank you to you all. We are so grateful for your generosity and know that we wouldn’t be able to do all of this without your support! Thank you to every person who has reached out, prayed, and helped us with meals, childcare, pet care, etc. I remember every donation, text, and prayer said. It really does mean so much to us! It makes this life a whole lot easier to live and for that we are forever indebted to our village/team. Thank you for reading our silly little updates and for investing so much of yourselves in our story.
