Jade Cato's Recovery
So many exciting things happening, sprinkled with some harder issues Jade is facing.
School started. She loves it. She loves her teachers, classes, and friends. She has even decided to run for homecoming and I am all about it! She went and watched her best friends opening cheer game and has been feeling great!
We’ve had to go to Gainesville both weeks since starting school so far, but the first Thursday of school she only had to miss first period because we zipped back and forth as fast as we could and she only needed bloodwork that day. Last Thursday was a jam packed 10 hour day in clinic, so she missed that day. Sadly, this weekend that lab work revealed some upsetting news.
That virus, the one like mono, that she had been fighting for months and finally got under control is back. CMV is a type of virus that once you get it, you always have it and sadly it can reactivate.
Today I can already tell a difference in her and it worries me, for many reasons. A major reason is it can be extremely serious for kiddos like Jade if it gets out of control. Also, the medication used to control it causes Jade to have elevated liver enzymes… and if you’ve been following here for a while… then you know her liver has already been hit hard.
We have many teams guiding and working to figure it all out. Her oncology team, infectious disease, liver specialist, etc. I trust them, but none of them care about her like I do, so I definitely consider myself a major part of her team. I ask so many questions. I am constantly messaging doctors/ nurses.
She’s tough and wants to be at school. She wants to be with her friends. She wants to feel good. I pray all her wishes come true. Please keep Jade in your prayers and thank you for continuing to love and pray for her.
