Jade Cato's Recovery
Wow! It’s been an amazing week! We went on our Disney Cruise that was Jade’s Make a Wish. It was nothing short of magical. We ate 5 course dinners every night, swam with dolphins, and made memories for a lifetime. Some of our family and friends even came along and stayed in rooms right next to ours!
I was a little nervous for this trip. Because of everything Jade’s care team gave the ok to go, but with strict orders that if Jade were to spike a fever she would need to be life flighted home. We understood the risks, but thankfully we all stayed healthy and none of that happened.
Before we left Jade had an appointment and her liver levels looked pretty good. They are just going to continue to follow everything closely. Her maintenance medication have both been reduced to 25% of what the protocol states because it was just too toxic for her at the higher levels. They are going to continue to watch tends and monitor blood counts/ metabolic panels/ liver studies and try to keep Jade at her “sweet spot” for the medication. We need it to be strong enough to keep bad cells away but not damage her organs.
Jade’s face was so happy this week. It was such a blessing to see.
Today we went and watched the 5th grade class at her school because they were having field day. I remember being in the hospital with her last year and getting pictures from Sawyer and Wade.
I am so thankful to be at these events with Jade.
The Disney cruise was an amazing experience and I will never forget it, but so are the little things like field day.
So thankful and deeply grateful that Jade is experiencing a month like this because we so vividly remember what May looked like last year.
She has an appointment on Thursday. Lots of numbers will be checked. She will be put to sleep for a lumbar puncture and chemo in her spine. Please keep on praying Jade stays healthy. We love you all and have felt your love and support every step of this journey!
