Jade Cato's Recovery
Yesterday Jade spent the day in clinic getting chemo. She got Vincristine, Methotrexate, and Rylaze (2 shots). Her hemoglobin was very stable at 10.2 and her platelets were 98. Her ANC (immune system) was about 1400. Because her numbers were at a good place she was given an escalated dose of the methotrexate. Vincristine is a chemo she has got in about every round. It often has a few side effects in her. Usually jaw pain, weakness in her ankles, and bladder irritation. The Methotrexate is the chemo she suffered toxicity from a few months ago. You may remember when she was admitted for colitis and a GI bleed. The dose she gets this round is much smaller and they don't expect those kind of complications. Yesterday marked the 38th and 39th Rylaze shots.
We also got news that our 10 month stay in and out of the Ronald McDonald House has come to an end. There are families coming that need it more consistently than we use it. After several hours in clinic Jade and I went to start the process of packing that room up. We will forever be grateful for the facility and people there. It has been an absolute blessing to us!
We came home to a fire and Jade got to watch the starts with aunts, uncles, grandparents, and siblings!
We are so blessed Jade has been able to do more things lately. Every other round Jade was in a state of severe neutropenia... meaning her immune system was extremely low/nonexistent.
She is still neutropenic and needs to avoid sick people and crowds, but she has been able to have a bit more normalcy and see friends.
