settling in into hospital living

We’re slowly getting settled into hospital life.
This second time around, I can’t help but notice how God continues to provide peace in unexpected ways. The nursing staff has such a calm and gentle spirit—still incredibly skilled, but with a relaxed confidence that reminds me God goes before us and prepares the way. 🙏🏽✨

This time around, I’ve noticed how much medical care has evolved. Preventive measures are now implemented early—before the body becomes weak. Seven years ago, they often waited for “things” to happen and then threw everything at the body when it was already struggling. That was always hard for me, because I’ve always believed in strengthening and protecting before the battle begins.
This hospital’s approach feels different—intentional and proactive. They even incorporate red light therapy as a preventive tool (more on that later!).

Another huge difference is freedom. Seven years ago, full isolation was non-negotiable. We couldn’t step outside the room, not even into the hallway. Now, as long as Jazmyne’s levels are safe, she’s free to roam—explore the garden, visit the playroom, and even join group activities with other patients.

That change alone is such a blessing. I remember how quickly isolation led to sadness and anger ( ✋🏼I was me who was angry), but now she gets to experience light, laughter, and life even in the middle of treatment. God is so faithful—even in the details.

The amount of activities provided for patients is truly impressive!
Just this week, rolling carts have come by filled with toys, books, magazines, cookies, snacks, and even coffee. The hospital also has its own TV channel that lets patients participate in live activities—usually fun arts and crafts (a total win for Jazmyne 🎨).

This is where technology really shines and makes a difference.
There’s also Bingo, where numbers are called through the TV, and winners call a special number to claim their prizes. 🏆 This week they even hosted “Slime Time,” encouraging patients to meet up and make slime together! The channel also includes story time and music time—such a beautiful way to bring connection and joy right into the hospital rooms.

Seven years ago, none of this existed. There weren’t even child-friendly channels available in a children’s hospital. Now, patients can even plug in their own digital media players (like Apple TV)!

It’s amazing to see how much has changed—how hospitals now focus on not just treating the body, but also caring for the heart and mind.

Grateful to see wisdom and progress at work—God truly equips those who care for His children. 🙏🏽✨
