Jazmyne's Promise
Days 38-40
Today marks 50 days since we were admitted to the hospital. Halfway through this journey. Somehow it feels much longer than 50 days. The days and nights continue to stretch on, and there are entire weeks where we don’t even know what day it is anymore. But halfway means progress, and we keep moving forward one day at a time.
Jazmyne continues to make slow but steady progress. Her frequent urination episodes have improved significantly, now about every 1 hour and the pain with urination has thankfully resolved.
Sleep is still a work in progress. After weeks in the hospital, her natural sleep schedule has flipped, and she doesn’t really wind down until around 1 a.m.
Our current battle is acute lower belly pain. For the past week, the team has believed it to be intestinal lining healing from mucositis, but after closely watching Jazmyne’s symptoms and patterns, we feel there is more to investigate. Her bowel movements are not painful, the abdominal pain continues to worsen, magnesium levels remain unstable, and her stool has been very dark ..all concerns that have led us to advocate for ruling out a possible ulcer after the intensity of medications her body has endured.
We’ve started discussing a clear action plan with the team for Monday. Advocacy is part of loving her well, and we will continue to ask questions and pursue answers until she is comfortable and safe.
In encouraging news, 3–4 IV medications may soon transition to oral meds, bringing Jazmyne one step closer to being completely off her central line.
Along with this, Jazmyne is working toward fully eating and maintaining fluid intake on her own, stabilizing her levels, transitioning all medications to oral form. All signs that we are finally moving in the right direction closer to leaving hospital living behind.
Prayer Requests: • That Jazmyne’s abdominal pain would fully go away • That Jazmyne would be able to meet her daily food and fluid intake on her own • That Jazmyne can successfully take all medications by mouth • And that the days and nights would pass quickly as we continue this journey
Thank you for continuing to pray, stand with us, and carry us through this season.
