Day 43-45
These last couple of days Jazmyne has continued to have severe abdominal pain and blood in her urine. The X-ray showed an obstruction, and even after two days of medication to help move it along, there hasn’t been any change yet.

Yesterday I asked for new medications to be considered since the ones previously given had not moved anything. After two doses of Lactulose, we finally started to see some movement. I also spoke with pain management about increasing her ketamine dose at night, when the discomfort and cramping seem to be the most intense. They also added Gabapentin to help treat neuropathic pain.

With this combination of changes, after weeks of pain, restless nights, and frequent trips to the bathroom, Jazmyne (and I) were finally able to sleep. She slept for two complete hours without interruption, woke briefly for a quick and painless trip to empty her bladder, and then went right back to sleep for another four hours uninterrupted.

As I woke up to start my day, Jazmyne continued to sleep. She slept up until 12 noon could have probably slept more but medications needed to be given.

The providers rounded this morning and we agreed to keep the current plan in place through the weekend since we are finally seeing some movement and rest. We will re-evaluate on Monday if any changes are needed.

We continue to trust that God is working even in the small moments of relief.
