Day 18-20
We are seeing slow progress in Jazmyne’s liver function, and for that we thank God. 🙌🏽 The high-dose steroids are complete, but the side effects of aggression with irritability will linger for weeks to come.

Because of the excruciating pain Jazmyne has been in, her morphine PCA had to be increased, along with other medications, to keep her comfortable during recovery. The weight of these medications has kept her heavily sedated most of the day. While rest has been good, movement is what her body really needs right now to help release trapped gas and move the excess fluid her body is holding onto.

Jazmyne’s ANC and WBC have been doubling each morning. Three days ago, when her ANC first made an appearance, it was 99—today it’s 1,751! 🙌🏽 Her WBC was 0.43, and today it’s 4.41. Her body is working incredibly hard, and that rapid recovery is causing significant bone pain and soreness throughout her body. Movement continues to be  very difficult and painful for her right now.

This week we are focusing on weaning Jazmyne off oxygen support and introducing baby formula through her NG tube to see if she can tolerate more than breastmilk in her stomach. If not for the liver function issue, we would already be discussing transitioning from IV medications to oral meds in preparation for discharge. The medical team is astonished that her levels are doubling daily, something they’ve described as truly unheard of. We see God’s hand moving, even in the waiting.

Prayer Request:
*Jazmyne liver function heal to normal
*the steroids release out of Jazmyne body so we can get our joyful girl back
*the bone and body aches start to subside
*Jazmyne tolerates baby formula to start to eat solid foods
*continue to give Greg and I the patience with Jazmyne and that we continue to have joy in this with each other
