Big update for our girl! 🀍

We just wrapped up another two-week DMI intensive, and we are heading home with a stronger little girl. πŸ’ͺ🏼

This intensive focused primarily on independent sitting and standing because Harvie's therapist noticed such a huge improvement in her head and trunk control since February.

One of the things I love most about DMI therapy is that the program doesn’t just work on the skills your child already has. It challenge them with higher-level movements because that's often what helps the lower-level skills emerge. So while head and trunk control are still our biggest goals, Harvie was pushed in ways that help build new pathways, give her brain meaningful feedback, and unlock even more potential.

Her therapist always meets Harvie where she is, but she also believes she's capable of more. And she expects it. Watching someone believe in your child that deeply is such a gift. Even if our little miss gives her a bit of attitude every now and then. πŸ˜‰

This time we were also able to add an OT intensive, and it was incredible. They specifically worked on regulation, more Astronaut Training, using her hands with greater purpose, and decision-making. Harvie absolutely crushed it.

One of my favorite parts was hearing her therapist talk about how quick, intentional, and incredibly smart she is. She commented on how obvious it is that we work with Harvie at home. That meant so much because there are so many people who pour into her every single week. Their time, patience, encouragement, and love are making a difference.Β

These last two weeks have been exhausting, rewarding, emotional, but so worth it.

I'll be honest, during an intensive, there are moments when I wonder if we're asking too much of her or if we're making the right decisions. But every time it's over, and after we've had a chance to breathe and reflect, the answer is so clear.

We are.

Harvie continues to show us that she's capable of more than anyone expected. She works so hard, and we're going to keep believing in what she's capable of. We can't wait to see these new skills continue to emerge as we keep putting in the work at home. 🀍
