Harper's Recovery
It’s been an eventful — and somewhat hectic — few days.
Harper had her MRI late Thursday afternoon, and then at 2:30 a.m. Friday, she spiked a fever. We took her to the ED, where she was admitted for neutropenic fever.
On Friday, she received a blood transfusion and started IV antibiotics. Her oncologist was incredibly flexible and willing to discharge her this morning — as long as her cultures were negative at 24 hours and her counts were starting to rebound — so we could leave on time for our Disney/Make-A-Wish trip.
Since Harper was feeling pretty good, her babysitter came to the hospital so Ryan and I could attend the Savannah Catie’s Gathering, a fundraiser benefiting CURE Childhood Cancer. They shared Harper’s story at the event, and her sweet therapists even decorated a Ms. Rachel–themed table in her honor. It was an emotional but beautiful evening.
This morning, Harper started making white blood cells 🙌, and she received a platelet transfusion to (hopefully!) get us through the week. We were discharged by 11:15, and now we are officially on the road!
When we get back, we’ll discuss her MRI results and next steps. For now, we’re looking forward to a week away making special memories with our girl. 💛
