Counts, Transfusions, and Christmas Lights

It’s been a long week. Harper’s nausea slowly improved, and we started to see a bit more energy. Then her counts began to drop, and her energy dropped with them. We took her in Wednesday for a count check and learned she was neutropenic, with hemoglobin and platelets hovering right on the edge. We went back in today, and she ended up needing both blood and platelets, making it about a seven-hour clinic day.

Hoping the transfusions would help her energy, we took her to the Botanical Gardens to see the Christmas lights. She was pretty stoic, but we were lucky enough to get a few smiles.

We’re hopeful that tomorrow she’ll feel a little better and that we can have a good Christmas week ahead.

Thank you, as always, for the kind words, prayers, and continued support

I truly pray that this round of chemo would be healing for her and that her counts would come up enough for you all to enjoy Christmas. Have y’all driven through the Christmas light show at the fairgrounds located a few miles from our neighborhood? Mark and I would be happy to buy a car pass for your family as a small gift for you all. Let me know if we could do this by Venmo is I can leave it in your mailbox. We would also be happy to have y’all join us at Christmas Eve candlelight service at Compassion Christian Church at 5pm. If a crowded space isn’t best, you can always join in online. Wishing you lots of Christmas joy!
