What Are You Reaching For?

Around midnight last evening, I made my way into the kitchen for a snack.  I opened the cabinet and reached for a bowl. Chunks of watermelon awaited. As I reached for the best bowl, I realized the bowl I was reaching for is a bowl I have been eating from all my life. True story, sincerely, my mother fed me from this bowl as an infant. Strange? I think so! Who do you know that has eaten from the same container for over 60 years?  Seems odd to me, but I’m grateful for a bowl that has served me faithfully for 6 decades and hasn’t cracked. Now as I am battling cancer for 6 months, I value even more the things standing faithfully by my side and enduring life’s hard knocks. The people are the most meaningful. I have friends and family that are by my side regardless of my circumstances, and they mean the most to me right now.

The simple symbol of a ceramic bowl. Nothing special. But something God uses to remind me that HE is always with me, and HE can be counted on as we move forward. His goodness to me is amazing.

What is God using in your life to remind you that He is with you, and He is NOT going to leave you?  Is there something God has placed in your life to point you to His faithfulness, and are you reaching out to that reminder on a regular basis?  HIS WORD is a great place to start, making time each day in His word is a great place to be reminded of His devotion to us.

I’m grateful for our Savior’s devotion to us and His commitment for life! I know as I walk through this valley of cancer, I can be assured that Jesus’s commitment to me has not changed and will not change,

Pastor Greg, so true and no, not strange. I have a pot my mom fed me Mac & Cheese from 60 years ago, my kids all ate from it, and now it awaits the next generation! It is a constant reminder of the Godly woman she was, moreso the promise of our Savior, that he is indeed always with us, we can find Him in His Word, but yes, also a bowl or a pot! Thank you for sharing and your continued modeling of the love Jesus has for his children. Len Len

Very well stated, Greg. You might pass for an English major 🙀🙀! But you’re right; we have to turn to truth daily, and that truth is found in the Word. Keep up the great writing.

Such lovely words & warm reminder of those vivid memories from our childhood kitchens. I have a 100 year-old rolling pin & glass bowl. They carry such positive energy for me. Hang tough, dear brother.

It never fails to amaze me how those who are Christians do not have a daily devotional reading Gods word or even read their Bible during the week. How can any of us know what God wants for us to do if we don't read and follow His Word daily. It's like I it never fails to amaze me.

His Word reminds me daily He has been, he always is. There is days He talk to me clearly and is direct that touches my soul in such a way. I learned to journal since the first time I was diagnosed with breast cancer. It has been 28 years so when I had a recurrence 4 year after being healed after kicking and screaming. I went back to so many truth has spoken and many things forgotten. It is when hard times hit I grab my journal and I find His reassurance. Increases my faith. Thank you for sharing your life with us. He is faithful! You are in our prayers.

I love this. It is so true. God will never fail us. I pray for you and yours constantly. ❤️( btw, I couldn’t help but notice The green glassware. That’s been a staple for our mothers. Straight from Uncle John’s store——we are truly blessed; makes me think of our whole big family 💕) ❤️❤️❤️❤️
