Thank you for your prayers! We are grateful for our tests, results and time with our team and specialist at Duke University last week. The tests revealed Greg’s tumors have not spread or grown. The tumors appear to be damaged from the radiation and chemotherapy Greg has taken to this point. Overall, this visit was positive and encouraging.
Our Radiation Oncologist told us in August, this is a very serious cancer, and our path would not be a sprint, but rather a marathon.
Greg will continue to undergo the chemotherapy maintenance cycle. The “double chemotherapy” (which is actually more than doubled the original dosage) has begun again this week. While at Duke, we were able to identify other deficiencies and side effects that we are now seeking additional answers and solutions for.
So, it's a bit of a tightrope walk. We are celebrating good news while fighting the realization, we have a long way to go. We continue to pray for God’s will, God’s glory and a revival. The temptation to give in to discouragement is real.
Far more real than the temptation of discouragement are the truths from God’s Word. Right? The Truth of His Word, The Truth of His character and the Truths of His promises have triumphed throughout all time. God can be trusted! He is able!
Proverbs 3: 5 - 6
Proverbs 3: 5 - 6
What I’m reading and what I’m thinking…
5. Trust in the LORD with ALL your heart and DO NOT LEAN on
Your own understanding…
6. In ALL your ways
Acknowledge HIM
And HE will make straight
YOUR PATHS.
7. Do not be wise in your own eyes,
Fear THE LORD
and turn away from evil.
“My own understanding” is so limited..
Of cancer, of medicine, of doctors, of “standard of care”, bills, insurance, “long term disability”, systems, programs…
How can I “acknowledge HIM”? I need to: set HIM apart as LORD;, KNOW HE is on His throne: KNOW HE is able; KNOW His plan WILL NOT be thwarted.
MY path?!? Is truly HIS PATH, and “that path” is The Path of PEACE - of Trust - of Belief - HIS PATH (not mine!)
(Peter tried to sway Jesus’ path in Matthew 16: 22, however, Jesus' rebuke (v. 23) to Peter was followed by “don’t set your mind on the things of man, but set your mind on the things of God!”)
My mind, my acknowledgement is not on the tightrope but on His Path!
My mind, my acknowledgement is not on the tightrope but on His Path!
