On Tuesday, we received the results from Glen’s most recent bone marrow biopsy. The news was not what we were hoping for. At this time, Glen does not qualify for his bone marrow transplant. We are finding that Glen’s disease is unique and difficult to treat. To continue to kill his cancer, we, along with his doctors have decided that he will go through two more rounds of chemotherapy before being checked again in mid-November.
While we hate that there is still cancer in his body, we are holding onto the fact that Glen continues to handle his treatments with so much strength and resilience. His treatment in the coming months should help continue to get us closer to him qualifying for his bone marrow transplant. It will take patience, but we are trusting the process and feel confident about the steps ahead.
One piece of hopeful news is that, with his doctor’s approval, Glen will be able to attend school a couple of mornings a week during this treatment phase. We’re working closely with his team to create a schedule that makes this possible and keeps him safe. He doesn’t know about this yet, but loves school. I can only imagine the excitement on his face when we get to share the news. Just the thought of him being able to spend time with his classmates and have some moments of normal childhood gives me something bright to hold on to in the midst of all this.
In the meantime, Glen has been keeping busy with the things he loves, like Mimi school, watching Blaze and the monster machines, and spending lots of time outside. Thank you for continuing to walk with us on this journey. Your support and encouragement helps us through each step.
