After spending Thanksgiving week in the hospital with sepsis, I am grateful to have spent this week at home. Today is the last day of my IV antibiotic treatment, and my blood counts have remained stable this week. As a result, all post-discharge transfusions were canceled.
Tuesday (12/09/25) I report to Highland Park Hospital for immunotherapy. I will spend Wednesday - Friday (12/10/25 - 12/12/25) at Evanston Hospital for chemotherapy on an inpatient basis. This will be round 5 of chemotherapy, but round 2 of high-dose Cytarabine. Because the first round of Cytarabine obliterated my white blood cells, platelets, and hemoglobin, which led to bacterial infection and then sepsis, I will receive a lower dose for this round.
I am continually grateful for all the love and support lavished on me and my family. For those of you remembering us in your prayers, here are my current requests:
1) Full healing from sepsis. I am gradually overcoming weakness and fatigue. My lungs were negatively impacted and are also slowly recovering.
2) Wisdom for my Oncologist in determining an effective yet tolerable dose of Cytarabine and an appropriate follow up/monitoring plan.
3) Maximum benefit and minimal side effects from this round of Cytarabine and strong rebounding of white blood cells/platelets/hemoglobin. I would also love to be healthy and home at Christmas.
4) Safety as travel times this week coincide with adverse weather forecasts.
5) For family and household needs to be met as well as strength for Tim who continues to fill in the gaps at home with a servant's heart.
6) A blessing on all those supporting me and my family this week.
With much love and gratitude,
~ Ginny
