Updates for the last few days:

We had a good Saturday! Gabe had a friend come up to help him make his “senior crown” for the first day of school. Even though he won’t be there in person, he was excited to make one. I’ll share a couple of pictures!

Sunday he was kind of in a rut/funk. Sundays are so slow around here. Even though we had lots of visitors, no therapy happens so he doesn’t feel like he’s making any progress on those days. Rest days are so important but hard for him.

Late last week he ended up with a urinary tract infection. They’re fairly common for people who have to be catheterized. They started him on antibiotics but unfortunately there’s lots of other symptoms his body goes through that are likely related to the UTI. Lots of leg spasms that he can’t control and low blood pressure. He’s on medicine to keep his blood pressure up, but he’s been bottoming out kind of frequently. When he bottoms out, he gets a bad headache and then doesn’t feel well for a lot of the day. They’ve assured us this happens to a lot of patients and will get better but the waiting is hard especially when he’s not feeling well. He wants to do all of his therapy to get stronger and better but just can’t right now.

Please pray with us that his BP issues would resolve quickly so he’s not feeling crummy so often. Please pray he would get good rest every night. Please pray for patience for all of us. We knew this would be a marathon and not a sprint. However, it’s amazing how slow and long the days feel while also feeling crazy and chaotic.

Thanks for the update Katie. I pray for all of you frequently during the day but especially for Gabriel for what he’s going through at such a young age. I too know God has great plans for him. He promises to see us through all our trials.
