Update for day #4, another great day!!

Gabriel "Gabe" Eisner and Family

He was awake at 5 (this morning) not able to go back to sleep so we got up and did some OT exercises. He ate a little breakfast and FED HIMSELF!!! With his right hand. Not picking things up but if we place something in his hand he can lift it to his mouth, take a bite and pull it back down!! He also scratched his own face and head this morning! He’s starting to feel some independence back and it’s been so good!

He is still running temps so they did a chest xray, blood cultures, urine culture, and nasal swab today…just to make sure no infection is brewing anywhere.

He ROCKED PT/OT today. They sat him all the way up in bed and he was able to hold that (assisted) for over a minute. They were very impressed!

His pain has been less today, praise the Lord!! They changed all of his IV meds to oral and he tolerated that well. Pain being less means he was awake quite a bit more of the day today!!

Tomorrow should be the last day of the blood pressure medicine keeping his BP elevated and they plan to pull the drain out of his back. They are also going to try to do a side bed sit and maybe get him up in a wheelchair tomorrow.

We are praising God with every little victory and believing in BIG things. Thank you, thank you, thank you

This sounds like a wonderful, huge step! Praying for Gabe and your family altogether. There must be uncertainty, but Gabe seems like a guy who can look at one day at a time. We've spent a lot of time at CHOA, and my friend Regina recovered from a massive head injury at Sheppard. She raves about it.
